PRAY FOR AN ASTEROID

PRAY FOR AN ASTEROID
(To the tune of “Cabaret,” by John Kander and Fred Ebb from 1966 Broadway show “Cabaret”)

Stuck with a congress that sits on its thumbs
We’ve grown beyond annoyed
What will it take to change D.C.?
Pray for an asteroid

One that would shatter and shock all the bums
Of ethics whom are devoid
What will it take to change D.C.?
Pray for an asteroid

Not one to maim,
No blood should spill,
But one to kill complacency there,
Shame a spark of decency there

We’ve tried with voting and beating the drums
Fought lobbyist gangs deployed
What will it take to change D.C.?
Nothing on earth can change D.C.
What will it take to change D.C.?
Pray for an asteroid.
