(To the tune of “Kids,” by Lee Adams and Charles Strouse from the Broadway Musical Bye Bye Birdie(1958))

No one wants to hear about facts today.
Inconvenient truths that get in the way.
About climate warming or health care reform.
Not debated. Just evaded.

What’s more
We’re smothering in fake news.

Folks today prefer unreality.
What you read on Facebook is fantasy.
The President sells baloney.
They cheer for him anyway.
Cause, no one cares about facts today.

You believe what big corporations say?
Are you getting yours from the NRA?
When you can’t trust the headlines
The breadlines ain’t far away.
Oh, no one cares about facts today.

(To the tune of, “Up on the Roof,’ by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, as recorded by The Drifters in 1962)

When your concerns are being ignored
And people up in DC won’t hear your voice.
There’s one place where your faith is restored
Cause on election day you have a choice.

In the voting booth you wield the might
There you can change the country overnight.

Let me tell you how:

If you’re afraid for our rivers and streams
If oil pollution haunts your nightly dreams.
Get off your chair and head for the spot
Where all the power’s in the vote you’ve got.

In the voting booth you are the King.
And what you do there may change everything.

Head for – the voting booth.

That night you’ll watch the votes come in so fast.
You’ll feel important. Hope the thrill will last.

It’s a miracle,

Cause when you vote you’re a part of it all.
Part of what we call, democracy.
Now history’s awaiting your move.
And will you prove deserving to be free?

Give Mister Trump a lesson on  the truth.
What you’re demanding in the voting booth.

In the Voting Booth.
In the Voting Booth.
